HOW TO SAVE YOUR FALLING RELATIONSHIP

Relationships aren’t difficult. They’re really not. People are difficult. People make things overly complicated. They screw up and make mistakes. They lie and cheat. They make and break promises. People — not relationships — fail. I’ll admit that not everyone is compatible. Some relationships are bound to fail from the start. Some things in life simply are what they are. There’s nothing we can do to change them. But many relationships fail not because the people in them aren’t right for each other, but because they fail to put in the effort. You can say you’re not ready. You can say you’re not in the right place in your life, the timing isn’t right, you need more time to focus on yourself and your personal goals. And I’m sure that at least some of these excuses are true. But it all boils down to one simple fact: YOU are not trying. YOU aren’t in the right place. YOU are the one who’s only focusing on your goals. YOU are the one who’s breaking that poor guy or girl’s heart. Some ...

SAD END FOR AN NDII STUDENT OF YABATECH

The incident reported to have happened in the hotel where the deceased and her boyfriend lodged on 30, Balogun Street, Oshodi in Lagos. Miss Balogun’s younger sister, Funmi, explained that the boyfriend of the late student came to pick her sister at their residence on Saturday around 11pm, adding that was the last she saw of her. “Abolade was in a hurry that night and I told my sister not to go but she picked some of her things and left with him. On Sunday morning around 7, she called and said plans had changed that they were not going to the beach again but to a hotel and since then, we have been trying her mobile line. “When she didn’t pick her call, I became worried. That day was her birthday and our mother still called her in the midnight to pray for her. Even, when my mum called Abolade’s mobile line, someone picked and said he forgot his phone and since then his lime has been switched off,” she explained. The younger Balogun stated further that when she and some family member...

What you need to know about Genesis 1 vs 1

Image
In the beginning.—Not, as in John 1:1, “from eternity,” but in the beginning of this sidereal system, of which our sun, with its attendant planets, forms a part. As there never was a time when God did not exist, and as activity is an essential part of His being (John 5:17), so, probably, there was never a time when worlds did not exist; and in the process of calling them into existence when and how He willed, we may well believe that God acted in accordance with the working of some universal law, of which He is Himself the author. It was natural with St. John, when placing the same words at the commencement of his Gospel, to carry back our minds to a more absolute conceivable “beginning,” when the work of creation had not commenced, and when in the whole universe there was only God. God.—Heb., Elohim. A word plural in form, but joined with a verb singular, except when it refers to the false gods of the heathen, in which case it takes a verb plural. Its root-meaning is strength, p...

GETTING YOUR RELATIONSHIP TO WORK

Image
It takes two to tangle as popularly said. Here’s the truth about intimacy, that I feel it’s absolutely essential for you to express your complete truth to your partner, and for you to accept theirs. To do this, both of you need to trust each other enough to let each other into your inner world, to share your soul and know the other will truly listen and accept it.Trust is built up in moment-by-moment interactions. You can build it or lose it, in an instant. As humans, we have the gift of words. We can share what we think and feel to draw closer and be fully known and we can use words to prompt changes when something isn’t working. But most of us don’t know how to effectively use them, and lose control in the heat of the moment. We accidentally do damage to our relationships with what we share, how we share it and how we respond, we get triggered and lash out. We try to prove ourselves right and conversations escalate into fights. We make ourselves enemies with only one “winner,”...

MENTOR VS ROLE MODEL

There has always been a misconception between these two words. People often take mentors for role models. A mentor knows you and cares about you and tries to help you succeed. There is always a one on one relationship with a mentor. A role model on the other hand is simply a person you look up to and try to emulate. It is very common for young people to choose role models they have never met and never will meet, simply because in some way they idealize that person's image. You can never make some one you can't access and have a chat with as your mentor, he/she can only be your role model. I don't know who your role models are, neither do I know who your mentors are, but they have great tendency of deciding your future. Most destinies has been chattered by the mistakes of some so called mentors or role models while some has been built for the better in the same process. Most people has so much believed in their mentors that even when their mentor falls they do the same...

UPS AND DOWNS WITH EXAMS RESULT ISSUES

Not everyone finds themselves jumping in the air on exam results day for an enthusiastic newspaper photographer. While some students receive the grades they want, others will be more than disappointed. A levels and GCSEs are great markers in our lives, with the former signalling the end of thirteen years of school education. There is a lot to celebrate. But for those of us who don’t make the grades it can be hard to see a way forward. Grades fell slightly last year, but does this mean that more people will fail to go on to have fulfilling lives? No, it doesn’t. I got an E in textiles. But it all worked out okay in the end. Did you receive less than desirable GCSE or A Level results? What happened next? How did you manage yours? COULD THIS BE THE CHANGE WE HAVE BEEN SEEKING?

Image
The Governor of Cross river State Governor Ben Ayade led a troop of bike men as they paraded the streets of Crossriver. Its was a nice experience as the governor had time to experience what the masses feel when on bike. Do we then say a greater change has stormed Cross river State?
